I was born and raised in Hawai`i (yes, many people ask "why did you ever leave?") Well...during high school I had the opportunity to learn about the ancient healing techniques that native Hawaiians used. I was fascinated that they knew so much about health and how to remain healthy.  I graduated from the Kamehameha Schools and then went on to college at Pacific University in Forest Grove Oregon.  It rained almost everyday while I was in school, so I had a lot of time to study! I took a liking to Biology and mainly focused on Molecular and Cellular Biology. It was in college that I had the opportunity to do research at the Oregon Health Science University in the department of Cardiology. I was thrilled to have this rare opportunity and ate up every minute of it.  My research focused on the "unexplained reasons for sudden cardiac death."  I noticed that these people died of a heart attack for no apparent reason meaning that they had no prior symptoms and upon autopsy there were no significant pathological findings.  We came to the conclusion that these people had scar tissue within their heart muscle that blocked the electrical signal which caused the heart to beat.  My question was: "how did the scar get there?"

Picture_049_1.jpgAfter I graduated from college I chose to attend Southern California University of Health Sciences in Whittier California (mainly because it was on the west coast and it didn't rain as much as Oregon). I studied Chiropractic and learned the art of Applied Kinesiology. Chiropractic school was an eye opening experience to me. I finally got answers to my questions.  I learned that there was much more to the human body than just a bunch of chemicals thrown together.  I learned that the human body is "simply intricate and intricately simple" (thank you to my mentor Dr. George Goodheart - founder of Applied Kinesiology and a great Humanitarian).  In 2004 I graduated with the degree of Doctor of Chiropractic (Magna Cum Laude - which means that I actually did my homework). I am also certified in Applied Kinesiology, Total Body Modification and Natural Healing.  In my spare time I like to play music, specifically the ‘ukulele. I am part of a group in Hawai`i called Acoustic Soul. I enjoy watching movies and playing tennis with my wife.

My patients call me: Dr. Mike
